The pair recently took to the big stage at Moruya’s Granite Town Festival and hope to book more gigs in the new year.
Mia, 19, is an ex Moruya High School student and said her dad inspired and encouraged her love for music.
“I am fine on stage if Dad is there, he is the reason I don't get nervous because he doesn't put any pressure on me,” she said.
“We practise a lot at home and have a lot of fun.
“I do get nervous sometimes, but once I get started it’s good, it’s fun. I just love it.”
Playing a mixture of originals and covers, Paul and Mia charmed the crowd at Granite Town.
“Granite Town was absolutely amazing,” Mia said.
“Not just because we got to play, but because it was just so nice to see what our town can produce. It was so impressive.”
“I was so proud of Dad when he was playing on that main stage. It brought a tear to my eye.”
Mia has only recently started learning her dad’s original songs.
“Dad has a lot of his own songs,” she said.
“Before, we only did covers, but once we started doing more gigs together he said I should learn some of his originals.
“I have fallen in love with them.
“Dad likes that I influence him into new music and I listen to his old music that he listened to when he was younger.
“We play a big mixture of genres.
“He has played with so many different people, but he always says he likes playing with me the most.”
Through music, the pair have formed a close bond.
“We are pretty tight,” Mia said.
“We practice a lot together at home.”
Mia said she enjoyed watching her dad, just as much as playing alongside him.
“Performing with my dad is the best bit. It really builds my confidence up,” she said.
“When I was younger, all I used to do was watch Dad and I sometimes miss getting to watch him now because I am on stage with him.
“It is good when I play half a gig and watch the other half of it.”
Booking themselves more gigs is the aim for 2016.
“We aren’t very good at booking ourselves gigs,” Mia said.
“We want to try and get some more and share our music with more people.
“We aren’t aiming to do it professionally but we do it for fun and we both like to show people what we can do.
“It seems we have become a favorite at JJ’s at the Moorings.
“Dad has a gig in Nelligen soon and I am going to join him for a few songs.”
