As forecast, the grey skies and drizzle eventually cleared and a nor’-easter blew in to counteract the ebbing tide in the morning.
In the meantime, the volunteers installed keel lifters into the fleet’s three 303 sailboats, which means skippers can now easily raise and lower the weighty centreboards. Club secretary Terry McDonough says anyone of any age or ability who is interested in sailing and/or volunteering is more than welcome on sailing days, which are held on alternate Sundays and Mondays from the beach adjacent to On The Pier restaurant in Old Punt Road, Batemans Bay, from 10am to 3pm.
All gear is provided – just take a hat and $5. Future sailing days will be held this Monday and on December 6 (Batemans Bay Lions Christmas party), 14 and 20, and resume on January 11.
