For four years council management have tried to rig the Rural Lands process, to bypass the committee and the community. They failed.
Every public meeting and producer meeting in the last four years has vigorously rejected management’s plans, and all attempts to rig meetings.
Likewise the rural lands committee have seen their report and decisions “hijacked” (to quote protesting committee members).
Council’s final attempt to bypass the many failed meetings included three last ditch public meetings. One in Narooma and two in Moruya (one was for producers). All three failed for council.
At the last meeting the Mayor left early (obviously not a happy camper) then in the following week, a Greens friend of council reported in a Narooma news article that a rural lands meeting was held, and that the rural community and producers had given council’s plans their tick of approval!
How is that possible? Well it appears that the mayor and management were cornered, and decided to concoct a FAKE public meeting, held just four days later.
It was apparently a secret meeting, invitation only and unscheduled; where the invitees were apparent friends of council, like local green extremists.
Apparently such good friends that management even got one of these greens to write the official press release to the Narooma News.
Only two (friendly) members of the Rural Lands Committee were invited. The other (unfriendly) five were not invited or even notified.
Please sack this council Mr Constance, and give us an administrator who will clean out the bad management. Or will the people be left to bring back ethical democracy themselves?
