An eager Batemans Bay played Nowra and elected to bat first at Hanging Rock Oval on Saturday.
First drop and new recruit Sam Lee (16) was the best of the top order, but the Bay was 3/35 when he was caught off Rhys Fagerlund.
Fellow new Batemans Bay recruit Grant Morris (33 not out) was solid in the middle order and found the boundary five times.
However, when the Bay’s score was on 4/59 Nowra’s John King turned in a devastating spell and removed three batsmen in quick succession.
Batemans Bay was reeling at 7/59, but Morris and Luke Condon (12) steadied the ship until the Bay was bowled all out for 95 from 34 overs.
In reply, Jason Bell’s (65 not out) aggressive batting guided Nowra to a nine-wicket win, chasing the total in 19 overs.
