Captain Jack Gallen elected to bat after the Blues joint captains Rocky Lavalle & Dale Ramsden lost the toss.
Gallen and Ryan Hall made a solid but cautious start against the accurate pace attack of Angus Rutherford and Matt Wheeler, and both looked settled at the crease before Gallen top edged a ball from 1st change bowler Casey Dorrell to mid wicket, and was well caught by Bailey Tooth for 21 runs, with the score at 43.
Hall continued his promising start but retired at the end of the 22nd over for a well made 17. Paul Bishop played all over a straight one from James Sibley and was bowled for 7, then Mackenzie Clack also hit one in the air off Lavalle and was caught for 8, the score now 3/69.
Sean Griffin and Jordan MacPherson formed a nice partnership, taking the score to 87 when MacPherson was out caught for 7. Austin Reid made 4 runs and was bowled by Ryan Geerlings with the score at 5/100.
Griffin continued to chip away at the gaps and ran sensibly between wickets, 1st gamer James Dickinson (4 runs) showed some talent before snicking one to the keeper off Rutherford in his 2nd spell, then Cooper Green (3 runs) was bowled by Rutherford with the score at 7/112.
Griffin smacked the only boundary of the innings, and joined by another 1st gamer in Bailey King, managed to take the score to 7/124 at the end of the 49th over, where Griffin was retired for an innings high 25 no.
The Bay was 8/127 at the end of their allotted 50 overs. Pick of the bowlers for the Blues was Rutherford, with fine figures of 2/5 off 8 overs.
This Saturday morning the Bay take to the field in search of early wickets and the task of restricting key players Lavalle, Ramsden & Geerlings from scoring.
