Held at the Batemans Bay Soldiers Club, the night raised funds for the Prostate Cancer Foundation and the Sydney Neuro Oncology Group (SNOG).
The Prostate Cancer Foundation helped Cr Brown during his prostate cancer battle earlier this year, while SNOG supported his friend and colleague Cr Fergus Thomson, who passed away in July after battling a brain tumour.
Special guests included Paul West from television’s River Cottage Australia, NRL legend Michael Weyman and Moruya GP and Prostate Cancer ambassador Dr Martin Carlson.
Lindsay said it was a fantastic night, with several thousands of dollars raised for the charities.
“I was really humbled by the amount of people who turned up and the support that was given,” he said.
“To me, the money raised wasn’t the issue, it was about having men talking about their health and talking about getting to the doctors.”
Lindsay urged all men to treat their health with respect.
“Listen to your body and don’t put off going to the doctor thinking things will go away, because sometimes they don’t,” he said.
“The price you pay for not paying attention to your health could be the price you don’t want to pay.”
Lindsay praised event host the Soldiers Club, which he said did an “outstanding job” on the night.
“It was such a success they thought they would do it again next year and raise awareness for men’s health,” he said.
“I’m looking forward to making it bigger and better.”
