Australian human rights commissioner Professor Gillian Triggs was a surprise speaker at the NSW small business commissioner’s Regional Activation Forum at Batemans Bay Soldiers Club on Thursday.

“People would be surprised to know that two-thirds of the complaints we receive are about employment and business,” she said.
“What we are saying is let’s get better at maintaining people’s rights before we receive the complaints.
Professor Triggs found the Eurobodalla business people “really interesting and well-informed”.
“We now have federal and state governments who want to listen and these are the people they need to listen to,” she said.
Batemans Bay Chamber of Commerce president Allan Rutherford said the forum was “very informative”.
