Ron Ingram, of Moruya’s Winda Woppa fishing charters said it was a “really good weekend.”
“It was the best long weekend we have had for a while – we haven’t had too many as good as that.
“We were were fully booked up from Saturday through to Tuesday with people from Tasmania, Victoria, Canberra and Sydney.
“They caught a lot of fish and saw quite a few whale pods, some with orcas trying to infiltrate them.”
Restauranter Alan Imrie said business was up for his three Batemans Bay restaurants.
The Starfish Deli and Barkala were up four per cent from last year and One The Pier was so popular on Saturday we had to control the car parking there,” he said.
Mr Imrie credited the good state of the town as well as the weather for the tourists’ enthusiasm.
“The town presented good; the parks were mowed and looked nice,” he said.
Big 4 Broulee Beach Holiday Park’s Maria Hulm said it was one of the park’s best weekends ever.
“We were pretty booked out; it was really busy,” she said.
