Vacant boards common as Coalition considers the worth of community advice

Despite tourism being one of the economy's growth industries, Tourism Australia, the main arm for promoting Australia overseas, was without a chairman and deputy since June. only in the last few days has Anthony South, who was acting in the job, been confirmed as chairman. The board, which guides Australia's premier tourism research organisation, Tourism Research Australia, has stopped functioning altogether, after all but one of its board vacancies went unfilled.
