An initiative of the Children's Book Council of Australia (CBCA), Book Week encourages schools and public libraries across Australia spend a week celebrating books and Australian authors and illustrators.
Classroom teachers, teacher librarians and public librarians develop activities, offer competitions and tell stories relating to a theme to highlight the importance of reading.
On Friday Broulee junior students were encouraged to dress up as their favourite book character to celebrate the week.
The Book Week theme for 2015 is "Books light up our world".
The CBCA celebrates its 70th Anniversary in 2015.
