Bega Valley Shire council will work with the Eurobodalla on a report outlining areas for cooperation and joint initiatives.
The initiative was welcomed with open arms by all Eurobodalla councillors who attended Tuesday’s meeting.
A general manager’s report presented to the meeting outlined a number of both financial and non-financial benefits to the plan.
“In some cases, the development of a shared service arrangement can deliver improved service quality, stimulate innovation and enhance community outcomes,” general manager Dr Catherine Dale said.
“The memorandum of understanding will provide financial savings in terms of improved opportunities, increased efficiency and reduced costs in service delivery, through improved procurement practices and increased resource sharing.”
Cr Rob Pollock said it was a terrific idea.
“This is the first step and I think there should be many more,” he said.
Crs Neil Burnside, and Gabi Hardin agreed.
The final report will be presented to council on September 22.
