The under 16s boys were undefeated in division one before the finals and were dominant in the finals at the AIS last weekend.
Coached by Kojo Osei-Agyeman, the team sailed through the major semi-final accounting for the Canberra Gunners Blue 87-46.
The boys faced Shoalhaven Tigers in the final and despite it being a closer the match, the Bay was always in control, no matter what five players were on the court.
At full-time the Bay was convincing 63-55 winners and Riley O’Shannessy was awarded the finals MVP.
The win booked the boys a place in the Basketball NSW State Cup held at Gosford on September 5 and 6.
The same group of players were runners-up at the event two years ago and the Batemans Bay Basketball Association hopes for similar results this year.
The under 14s girls had a competitive season in SJL, finishing second overall.
The girls played Canberra in the major semi-final at the AIS and were clipped 62-37.
The Bay lined up against Goulburn in the preliminary final.
The girls fought to the final whistle, with the lead varying, but lost a thrilling contest 53-49.
Coach Marnie Crabb said the team should be extremely proud of their effort during the representative season.
“We had so much fun and I am honoured and so proud to be their coach,” Crabb said.
“Thank you to our marvellous manager Michelle Blythe and all the parents. Your help and support has been greatly appreciated.”
The girls received a surprise after the tournament after they were offered a wild card entry to the NSW State Shield held at Newcastle on September 12 and 13.
The Bay’s under 16s girls faced Albury in the minor semi-final.
The girls had a comfortable win, blowing Albury away 74-44.
In the preliminary final the Bay faced the Queanbeyan Roadrunners.
It was a see-sawing game and neither team led by a margin greater than four points for the majority of the match.
In the last four minutes fatigue wore the Bay down and Queanbeyan broke away to win 71-55.
Coach Paul Martin said it was a sensational team effort and that the girls played their hearts out.
The Batemans Bay Basketball Association’s domestic finals are starting and dates and times are on the stadium notice board or on the Facebook page.
Summer competitions will start in October for all ages - juniors five to 17 years to open men and women.
