The fair is one of the Auxiliary’s major fundraisers for the year.

Secretary Kath Smith declared it a raging success and said the busiest times were between 9am and 11am both days.

“It was frantic,” she said.

“We’ve gone through 95 banana boxes of books.”

Ms Smith said all books were donated by the community through friends of Auxiliary members and word of mouth.

“From about April we start collecting,” she said.

“Someone lent us their shed and we go and price the books on a regular basis from about June onwards.”

Mrs Smith said the popularity of the event proved the continuing relevance of paper books in today’s digital world.

“It’s amazing,” she said.

“There was a big range which would suit anyone who came in.”

Ms Smith said all genres were popular, however hardcover books were a harder sell.
