The resident couple arrived at the Beach Street house to find it well alight shortly after 8pm.
They called triple 0 and the Tuross Head Rural Fire Service arrived on the scene soon after, followed by Moruya Fire and Rescue.
Tuross Head RFS extinguished the majority of the fire, and three Moruya Fire and Rescue firefighters donned breathing apparatus and entered the house to completely finish it off.
There was extensive fire and smoke damage throughout the house but no one was hurt, and there was no damage to neighbouring property.
The cause of the blaze is under investigation.
