The HuntFest celebration of animal killing, sponsored by the Sporting Shooters Association of Australia and supported by the Shooters and Fishers Party and the South Coast Shooters Club, has many ugly ramifications.
Safari hunting is one.
Turning Narooma’s Sports and Leisure Centre into a retail outlet for guns is another.
In a democratic society such as ours, Eurobodalla residents and not a powerful lobby group are entitled to decide if they want a public building on community-owned land to be used for purposes so many find offensive and which could change the Nature Coast’s reputation to the one already adopted by HuntFest supporters, viz “Narooma. Home of HuntFest”.
