Since then, the foundation has supported 170 students with their tertiary studies to the tune of $464,000.
“We are not aware of any other educational charity in southern New South Wales with the age, size and the track record of Batemans Bay Youth Foundation,” foundation chairman Peter Wood said.
“Ever since Batemans Bay Rotary joined forces with the Batemans Bay Soldiers Club and the RSL Sub-Branch, the Youth Foundation has grown considerably in stature and reputation and is now, for many students each year from the Bay to Moruya, a lifeline to university.”
Peter said that during the past 21 years Batemans Bay Rotary had been a highly effective partner.
“The club supplied not only its annual donation of $6000 but also the key personnel to serve on the foundation’s management committee,” he said.
At the foundation’s meeting this week, Peter presented Batemans Bay Rotary president Vere Gray with a certificate of appreciation in recognition of the club’s outstanding community contribution to the foundation.
