Mrs Curtis is now on the hunt for the kind fellow shopper who paid for her groceries on Wednesday, July 15.
After collecting a few staple items at ALDI in the Village Centre, Mrs Curtis proceeded to the check-out, where she realised she had misplaced her bank cards.
“I lined up with others to go through the check-out with just a few everyday items,” she said.
“My card purse was not in my wallet and I only had a small amount of cash on me.
“I told the operator that I could only pay for the flowers I had got for my friend, who I was going to visit in Maranatha.”
A lady then offered to pay for Mrs Curtis’ groceries.
“You would never believe it,” she said.
“The lady next in line said ‘don’t stop, put them in your basket, I want to pay for them’.
“I kept saying no, but she insisted.”
Mrs Curtis asked the lady for her address and contact number so she could repay her in some way.
“She refused and said it made her feel good,” Mrs Curtis said.
“It was unreal.
“This is the first time something like this has happened to me.”
Mrs Curtis visits Batemans Bay once a week and said people were always happy to help her out.
“There is so many caring people we never hear about,” she said.
“I feel so humble and I want to say thank you, thank you, thank you!
“People like that lady are truly special.”
