A group of disgruntled vet golfers are attempting to remove the current board of directors by calling a general meeting of members.
The members who have signed the petition have been totally misled.
This small group of vets are blatantly telling lies to obtain signatures.
Some members, upon hearing the full story, have asked that their names be removed from the petition.
I don’t know if all Catalina members who signed the petition know that the vets committee, without the sanction of the board, was taking honorariums for the running of the vets competitions.
Also, out-of-pocket fees, paid by vet members, were used to purchase coffee and cakes, on competition days.
Let it be known that the vets committee resigned before they received formal notice, then they disbanded the vets, as though they were the only ones who could run the competitions.
Members were not consulted on their decision to disband the vets.
Sadly, on another note, someone from the vets stooped so low as to make harassing phone calls at all hours of the night, to the 90-year-old parents of our president.
Let it also be known that the current board and management has turned the financials around, after a trading loss of more than $1 million in 2011, to this year posting a trading profit of more than $500,000.
To change the board and management structure at this stage, would be a total disaster for our club.
Finally, I hope sanity prevails and we can all get back to playing this great game we all love, on our great course.
