The council last month resolved to waive the $127 set-up fee for new outdoor dining licences taken out between September 1 and November 30, 2015.
A report presented to council stated that outdoor dining was attractive to residents and visitors, and more outdoor dining would increase the amenity of dining precincts and add to the vibrancy of the shire.
“Council’s business development strategic plan, adopted in December 2014, identifies the need to establish a reputation for Eurobodalla as an innovative place that is open for business and to promote product development in the tourism industry,” the report said.
“This initiative delivers on both these aims.”
The report stated about $40,000 in rental fees were collected annually, so the “three-month payment holiday” would have an estimated short-term financial impact of $10,000.
Not all applicants may be eligible, as their outdoor area might not meet policy conditions.
“It is considered that this proposal will be good for business and will promote the Eurobodalla as a place that is open for business,” the report said.
