The kerbside collection will start at Tilba and South Narooma on Monday, July 13, before moving north to the rest of the shire.
It will finish at Surfside and Long Beach in the first week of September.
Council’s waste minimisation officer Belinda Wagner said the service was provided to residents who received domestic waste collection and accepted bulky items like fridges, microwaves, rolls of carpet, garden tools, and furniture.
She said three vehicles would visit each street; one for metal to be recycled, one for fridges, freezers and air conditioning units, which must be degassed before recycling, and one for all other items.
Ms Wagner said residents could help by separating furniture and junk from any metal items on the kerb.
“We also love it when people put their waste out just before their area’s collection date,” she said.
“It keeps everyone safe and our neighbourhoods looking better.”
Televisions and computer products like monitors and printers will not be collected, but can be taken to council’s waste management facilities free of charge year-round.
Other bulky items like mattresses, tyres, motor vehicle parts and vegetation, as well as building materials, will not be collected and should be taken to a waste facility.
Chemicals and hazardous material will not be collected either, but residents can get rid of things like paint, petrol and oil at council’s household chemical collections in October.
