Mary, of the Bate-mans Bay Bushwalkers, said walking conditions were excellent through varied terrain of old
disused roads and bush tracks and by traditional “bush-bashing” in the descent to the four crossings of Ryans Creek.
“The third crossing was the most spectacular and required careful stepping across a suspended rock bridge with slippery rocks,” she said.
Members of the Bushwalkers club used GPS instrumentation to update the walking maps for future use.
“In the surrounding bush were ancient blue gum and spotted gum trees of considerable girth; however no fauna was seen and despite anticipated warnings of possibly invasive colonies of leeches due to the wet conditions underfoot, and bees, thankfully neither was reported,” Mary said.
The club’s next two walks will be held on July 12 – from Cullen-dulla to Corrigans Beach, phone Susan on 4472 3420; and on July 15 – the Sunshine Bay circuit, phone Brian on 4471 1425.
Visitors and friends are always most welcome.
