HYSTERIA is building over the umpteenth attempt by the out-of-control UN bureaucracy to persuade all nations to commit to its policy, that man-made emissions of carbon dioxide will cause our atmosphere to overheat with catastrophic effects.
It will explode next December in Paris, when commitments to reduce man-made emissions of carbon dioxide will be sought at the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change conference.
In 2009, Kevin Rudd took a battalion with him to Copenhagen to strengthen President Obama’s cry for help to achieve the same goal, at huge cost to taxpayers.
They failed.
Australians trust their doctors, as Americans do.
Now, without Mr Rudd, it is reported that the White House is enlisting doctors to actively “raise awareness about global warming/climate change . . . (and) to warn their patients it could make their health worse . . . and to promote the Obama administration’s regulatory agenda aimed at cutting carbon dioxide emissions”.
How can we little people assess this mania?
It is important to note the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (1992) definition - “Climate Change” means a change of climate which is attributed directly or indirectly to human activity that alters the composition of the global atmosphere and which is in addition to natural climate variability observed over comparable time periods”.
For “human activity” read “man-made emissions of carbon dioxide”.
Now carbon dioxide is a trace greenhouse gas - less than 0.04 per cent of our air, and 97 per cent of that is due to natural climate variability.
The reality confronting the UN bureaucracy, the Obama administration, Mr Rudd et al, is that you cannot determine human causes of climate change if you do not know or understand natural causes, and they don’t.
Yet, this was confirmed in the UN’s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change’s second assessment report.
We must not follow these “pied-pipers” to oblivion.
