A man has been charged after allegedly indecently assaulting an eight-year-old girl outside a home in Sydney's east on Saturday afternoon.

The girl was sitting on the front fence of the home on The Avenue in Randwick at 2.30pm when the man allegedly approached her.
Police said the man indecently assaulted the child and grabbed her by the arm when she tried to escape.
A neighbour witnessed the alleged assault and screamed at the man who then ran away.
The girl told her father what happened and he contacted police.
Eastern Beaches Local Area Command officers, who were patrolling the area, saw a man running through nearby Alison Park and stopped him.
Police arrested the 38-year-old man from South Coogee and took him to Waverley Police Station. He was charged with indecent assault and assault with intent to have sexual intercourse.
On Sunday Gerado Gaston Huertas of South Coogee appeared in Parramatta Bail Court via video link. The court was told he has schizophrenia and needed a mental health assessment. He did not apply for bail and it was formally refused. He will appear in Central Local Court on Monday.
