Lined with iron barks and spotted gums, the track meandered along the peninsula between Bartleys Arm and Punt Arm on Durras Lake and then skirted the eastern side of Punt Arm, following the remains of old logging tracks.
An area being revegetated along the lake was ideal for a lunch stop, which was taken hastily when a cold westerly suddenly swept in.
The return journey involved some bush bashing through an obstacle course of fallen trees and dirt mounds to reach a track towards Durras Beach.
The walkers marvelled at the sight of terns diving into the sea to catch fish, and wondered how the birds did not suffer injuries from diving so hard and fast into the water.
