Sporting Shooters’ Association of Australia Wagga Wagga branch held its major benchrest rifle shoot, and Australian Benchrest Hall of Famer bagged medals in the light rifle and heavy rifle classes.
To cap it off she took out the Perpetual Shield and trophy for the top shooter of the two-gun aggregate.
It was a competitive field and the central location ensured a good roll-up of entrants from the Riverina, Sydney, Albury-Wodonga and Canberra.
On Saturday, it was the light rifle contest with five targets of five shot groups at 100 and 200 yards.
The weather was “pleasantly warm” but switching, chilly winds made for challenging conditions and close contests.
Brummell had a weekend full of podium finishes with gold at 100 yards, bronze at 200 yards and in silver in the overall aggregate in the light rifle division.
On Sunday, the heavy rifle competition was held under the same format.
She took home a hat-trick of gold medals in the heavy rifle class, winning the 100-yard, 200-yard and class aggregate.
Her performance earned her the top shooter award.
Brummell said close contests were the order of the weekend and that consistency was the key.
“It’s no good shooting one neat group and a couple of horrors,” Brummell said.
Brummell promised that if circumstances and her shooting program permit, she will make every effort to defend the title next year.
