The Kings Highway was closed for more than eight hours on Friday after the two-car crash between Braidwood and Bungendore.
Police and emergency services were called to the Kings Highway, 25km east of Bungendore near Manar Road, about 4.10pm.
A four-wheel drive ute, driven by a 43-year old Braidwood woman, and a sedan, driven by a 22-year-old Canberra man, collided head-on.
A police spokesman said the man’s leg was injured while the woman suffered facial lacerations and pelvic and leg injuries.
Both were taken to Canberra Hospital for treatment.
A Canberra Hospital spokesman said on Saturday that the woman was in a serious condition, while the man was stable.
The police spokesman said specialist crash investigators attended the scene and investigations were continuing.
“No charges have been laid at this stage,” he said.
“Any witnesses to the incident are encouraged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.”
