On May 23 at the Batemans Bay Soldiers’ Club Thirsty Merc will play all their favourites and maybe a couple of new songs.
Frontman Rai Thistlethwayte said he was looking forward to coming back to the area.
“We figured it would be nice to come back down to the area and do our own show,” he said.
“It is beautiful down there.
“The show will be fun.”
The band has been working on a new batch of material for a new album.
“It is the first time we will be releasing an album in five years,” Rai said.
“We may play one or two of the new songs.
“We will stick to songs like ‘In The Summertime’, ‘Someday Someday’ and some other old favourites.”
The album will be released at the end of the year.
After lots of solo gigs lately, Thirsty Merc is warmed up and ready for a good time at the Batemans Bay gig.
“People seem to be enjoying the latest batch of shows,” he said.
“It is a good time for us.”
Thirsty Merc will be supported by local talent The Spindrift Saga.
“We have struck up a bit of a friendship with Danny (drummer) through doing a gig with his band in Canberra a couple of months ago,” Rai said.
“It was a great gig and he is such a legend.”
Although there has been no word if the band will be asked to play at Granite Town again, Rai said the band might come back if a spot is available.
Tickets are $30 at the club reception or at the door.
The doors open at 8pm for an 8.30pm start.
