Blake Gleeson led the team well in the middle with Tremayne Chatfield, Lucas White and Murray Stewart in support.

Connor Art and Tom Holder kicked a bag of goals between them and when the ball came to ground Brent Wellington and Kyle O’Malley swooped on the loose ball.

Peter Griffiths ran in straight lines from the back line and was well supported by Reece MacDonell and Ryan Wilson, who both harassed and tackled the ball carrier at every opportunity.

Under 17s coach Danny White said it was a great team effort.

“The senior club has bright future if these players hang around in the years to come,” White said.

Under 14.5s knock off Bomaderry

THE Seahawks under 14.5s enjoyed a hard fought win against Bomaderry on Sunday.

The Seahawks were put under pressure by Bomaderry’s bigger midfielders, and defenders, who took control of the game in the first half.

In the second quarter the Seahawks began to win possession around the ground and their fitness, teamwork and determination enabled them to lead by two points at the break.

In the second half, the Seahawks kept Bomaderry to one point as it ran away 5.13 (43) to 2.4 (16) winners.

Under 14.5s coach Daniel Tuan said Will Aiken and Liam Backo defended superbly all day, Regan Drew and Treigh Stewart worked tirelessly in the midfield and big men Tyler Kariotis and Jade Eaton provided strong targets for the Batemans Bay side.   

“In an even contest, it was very encouraging to see the Seahawks come out on top,” Tuan said.

No mercy for under 12s

BATEMANS Bay’s under 12s were swept away by a mature and well-drilled Bomaderry at Hanging Rock Oval on Sunday.

The Seahawks were outmatched against the dominant side but some performances impressed coach Mick Pendlebury.

“Seb Giri stayed heavily involved around the contest all day and Taj Pendlebury’s effort, coming back from a serious foot injury, was commendable,” he said.

First time jitters

BATEMANS Bay’s auskickers and under 10s kicked off proceedings at Hanging Rock Oval on Sunday.

The under 10s played their first ever club game against the Bomaderry Tigers.

The Tigers got out of the blocks early and had an early lead,

However, the Seahawks then realised it was game on and narrowed the visitor’s lead with a few goals.  

It was not enough and Bomaderry won by a few kicks.

Under 10s coach Rod Carpenter said it was a great learning experience for the kids to encounter and play against opposition players with different playing styles and skills.

“It will only help our kids grow and improve their own game,” Carpenter said.

“The standout players were Tom Lassau, Caleb Healy and Olie Dyason."
