The medals were replicas of those awarded to the late Vietnam War veteran Robert Vines.
His son, also Robert, appealed for help after they went missing on Saturday at the Batemans Bay Anzac Service.
They had been worn by his two-year-old son, Cruize.
Sunday, April 26: A son is appealing for help after treasured replicas of his father's war medals were lost in Batemans Bay at the Anzac service.
Robert Vines has appealed for help after the commemorative medals, worn by a child, were lost near Woolworths Batemans Bay on Saturday, April 25.
"They are extremely important to the family," Mr Vines said.
He described them as "kid's-sized replicas of my father's medals" and "treasured".
His late father, Robert "Bob" Vines died as a result of his service in Vietnam.
"He was a very well-known local who owned a business here and passed when I was three years old from an illness due to serving in Vietnam," Mr Vines said.
The medals were worn on Saturday but Robert's grandson, Cruize Vines, 2.
The family was watching the service, outside the entrance to Woolworths, when they noticed the medals had gone missing.
"They have always been with the family," Mr Vines said.
He said they were never usually taken out, but had been worn specially for the Centenary service.
