A witness said the helicopter left the Batemans Bay helipad, heading south, shortly before the storm rolled in on the afternoon of Saturday, April, 25.
A Malua Bay resident watched the helicopter land at the southern end of Malua Bay beach at about 3.30pm.
About 90 minutes later, just on dusk, the helicopter took off, flying north.
