THE return of softball to Batemans Bay has been pitched by two women who are hosting a get together at Batemans Bay High School oval on Sunday.
Marieke Janssen played in the Netherlands and Canberra before moving to Batemans Bay.
She started a Facebook group called Softball in Batemans Bay in late March to gauge the interest of women who’d like to play regularly.
“I played in the finals with my former team in Canberra and I missed it so much,” Janssen said.
“I made the Facebook page and received lots of response.
“A lot of people want to try it.”
Janssen said she got in contact with Pam Williams, who last played softball in Batemans Bay in 1998, and Williams set up a meeting at the school.
The pair encouraged women 15 years or older who are experienced players or rookies who are keen to try it out to meet at the school oval on Sunday at 2pm.
“We can play ball, weather permitting, and discuss practical things like times to meet,” Janssen said.
“If parents, or people who can’t play, want to help that would be awesome.”
