The club wrapped up its season with a fun-filled final session followed by the presentation of medals and ribbons won throughout the season on Sunday.
Broulee surf sports co-ordinator Scott Elliott said the club had a successful season with appearances at a number of competitions.
“Our good results in the three local carnivals resulted in the club retaining the Dave Pheeney trophy again,” Elliott said.
“We also had kids compete at NSW Country Champs and NSW State Champs.
“The Nippers have gone from strength to strength through the season.”
Broulee won all of the surf swim teams’ FSC branch medals – from under 9s to under 14s.
Keira Lenahan, Callum Elliott, Kirra Dale, Craig Price and Emily Byrne were all individual surf swim branch champions.
Jasmine Newans was also champion in the under 9s wade.
“During the week we worked on the Nippers’ surf and board paddling skills and for some individuals that extra training has really paid off,” Elliott said.
Broulee also won many board paddle and ironman branch medals.
Tarren and Callum Elliott, Christian Filmer, Kellen Lenahan, Craig Price and Emily Byrne all won individual board paddle medals and the club swept the board rescue medals across all age groups.
Callum, Kellen, Craig and Emily were also ironman and diamond lady champions in their respective events.
Elliott was rapt in beach sprinters’ results at the NSW Country Championships with the under 11s taking out the relay gold and Rhys Flood and Lucy Hincksman collecting medals in beach flags.
Broulee was also branch champion in the under 10s and 11s relay and Rhys and Lucy were branch champions in beach flags and sprint respectively.
Club vice-president Geoff Wells praised the Nippers for their achievements.
“The Nippers of today are the future or our club,” Wells said.
“The skills they learned this season lead to earning bronze medallions and then they become patrolling members to keep the public safe at our beach.”
Wells also thanked the parents for their support and the age group managers for their commitment through the season.
“Broulee Nippers are fortunate to have such a wonderful group of people helping them develop into great little surf sports competitors, as well as teaching them so much about surf lifesaving,” he said.
