On Saturday, Caitlin Blay of Moruya had a clean sweep in the bowling competition at Belconnen, winning her singles, doubles and team events.

Heidi Jay partnered with Blay in the doubles and Reanna Hardy and Brett Bottle joined her in the teams’ event. 

Blay was “all smiles” after the event and was delighted with her achievements.

It was also Bottle’s first bowling competition and he reigned supreme taking out the singles too.

Amy Foot demonstrated she had grown in confidence from her appearance at the Nationals competition in Melbourne by winning her singles event.

Foot joined Hayley Badenoch and finished second in the doubles and the pair linked up with Sharon Himan to win a team event. 

On Sunday, the swimmers dived into competition at the Australian Institute of Sport’s pool.

The South Coast continued to impress spectators and Craig Hropic won four events.

Hropic, Brendan Cuthbert, Matt Edwards and Cameron Banson tackled the relay and made it look easy, finishing first. 

It was a fast pool and the competition was intense which helped a number of the group set personal best times. 

Carissa Morgan swam beautifully in her 50-metre backstroke but was unfortunately pipped at the line to post a post a commendable second.   

Laurie Masterson took the plunge in the 200-metre medley. 

His teams cheering from the poolside and were rapt when Masterson glided through the water to set a personal best.

The athletes oath is “Let me win, but if I cannot win, let me be brave in the attempt”.

“All the athletes were very brave in the attempt,” Alison Jay said.
