Perched in a cherry picker, one of them cut off the corroded pulley atop the flagpole, replaced it and threaded through a new halyard, all in good time for the service on Anzac Day.
On Saturday, the marchers will gather by the Mechanic’s Institute at 10.50am and march up the hill to the Cenotaph at 11am.
The service will be conducted by Bishop George Browning and the address given by Commodore Rob Elliott CSC, the director of General Maritime Development, Royal Australian Navy.
Everyone is welcome for drinks and lunch at the Institute afterwards.
