As part of the Eurobodalla’s Anzac Day commemorations, the Legacy Charity Golf Day will be held for the third successive year.
Legacy Batemans Bay Group president Keith Brewster said the player net would be cast wide.
“We want everybody who likes playing golf,” he said.
“Players will be better off entering a team of four, because it may be hard to fit an individual player into a team of three.”
The match will be played in an Ambrose format.
“The competition is primarily for enjoyment and not taken too seriously, therefore the Ambrose format was chosen,” Mr Brewster said.
“This format enables basic golfers to enjoy the day, along with the more experienced.
“All players are welcome and will contribute to the final result.”
Eighty-eight golfers played last year up to 100 are expected on Monday.
“We’ve got 10 registered teams, but we’ll never know until tee-off,” Mr Brewster said.
The main prize will be the Alan Stretton Memorial Shield, which honours one of the Eurobodalla’s most prominent military officers, who served in World War II, Korea and Vietnam.
“Major General Alan Stretton was well known as the Head of the National Disasters Organisation and for his part in the evacuation and reconstruction of Darwin after Cyclone Tracey in 1974,” Mr Brewster said.
“He was also a long-term resident of the Batemans Bay community, member of the Batemans Bay RSL Sub Branch and patron of Club Catalina.
“The day was dedicated to him to recognise his service to the country and our community, and his family has given permission for the major trophy to be named in memory of him.”
Three defence shields, representing the Army, Navy and Air Force, will also be awarded.
All proceeds go to Legacy.
“Legacy helps 200 widows in the Batemans Bay area and 90,000 dependants Australia-wide,” Mr Brewster said.
There will be a shotgun start at 8.30am after registration at 8am. For more information call Mr Brewster on 0413 786 482.
