ON Wednesday, my wife and I heard that St George Bank will close 20 agencies in NSW, including “ours” in Moruya, effective on June 12.

What a shock this was to us as very satisfied customers over the past 13 years, but how devastating it must be to the employees, especially the Moruya manager Annette Hermens who has been with St George for 27 years, and who with her team has been loyal and supportive to the organisation through its transitions from a building society to a division of Westpac.
While there are other banking organisations represented in Moruya, we cannot imagine that the service could ever be as good and personalised as we have enjoyed from St George.
Again we see the big end of town washing its hands of us small fry.
Will the big boys ever learn that while expecting “loyalty”, it is a two-way street - they have responsibilities to their customers and employees as well as to their shareholders and highly paid executives?
We will be writing to St George asking it to reconsider its decision to close in Moruya and hope many other people do the same on Twitter, Facebook or mail to Mr George Frazis, CEO St George Banking Group, Locked Bag 1, Kogarah, NSW 1485.
