Late last month, a Batemans Bay man lost his life in an accident on the Princes Highway, north of Bega.
His accident would be the first of many in the lead-up to and during the Easter holiday period.
Since Saturday there have been five accidents on Eurobodalla roads.
That is five crashes in five days.
Luckily, no-one so far has been seriously hurt.
However, a young woman yesterday remained in a serious but stable condition in Wollongong Hospital, after the crash at the Larry's Mountain Road intersection on Wednesday.
We have been luckier than some.
The serious two-car collision at Bewong on Tuesday was a nightmare for those involved and the many rescue crews who attended.
Many of the accidents in the Eurobodalla have involved younger drivers, some of them L-platers.
In one case, an older, impatient driver, appears to have pressured an L-plater into attempting to pull off the road - resulting in an accident three people were very lucky to walk away from, as our picture on page 1 shows.
The older driver sped off and it is unclear if he or she knew an accident had occurred on this stretch of rural road.
In another accident, on the Kings Highway on Monday, an 18-year-old P-plater appears to have been travelling too fast for the conditions.
Again, she and her passenger and other motorists were lucky to walk away.
On Monday, another L-plater was involved in an accident, when he or she slowed for banked up holiday traffic on the Princes Highway and was struck from behind on a curving section of road.
The exchange of views between Bay Post/Moruya Examiner readers on page 2 makes interesting reading.
Some were upset learner drivers were on the roads at all at such a busy time, in wet conditions.
However, most came out squarely on the side of giving youngsters room and time - whatever the time of year.
