Yesterday, with only declaration votes un-counted, Ms Perger had won 9.79 per cent of the vote, Labor’s Leanne Atkinson had 32.91 per cent and the No Land Tax Party’s mystery man, Clyde Archard, had won 2.29 per cent.
Ms Perger polled slightly lower than the 2011 Greens candidate, Harriet Swift, who claimed 12.1 per cent.
Ms Perger said she was “delighted” with the party’s statewide results – four Greens MPs are expected to be sworn into the lower house – and said the local result was also gratifying.
“It is the result of a great deal of teamwork locally and support from our state team,” she said.
“Our polling booth workers report a much more positive attitude to the Greens.
“We are recognised as a genuine third party with a full range of costed policies.”
She said the campaign highlight was the opening of the Tathra Community Solar Farm and she challenged the Eurobodalla to build such a project.
“I hope Mr Constance is going to look at the concerns of the 47 per cent of the electorate who did not vote for him,” she said.
