I NOTED with interest that in the article 10,000 and counting (Bay Post/Moruya Examiner, March 18), about the petition against a proposed rate rise in the Eurobodalla being presented to Bega MP Andrew Constance, that he has much to say about the (seemingly) large number of people against a special rate variation and as such council should not proceed with the application.

I ask him to apply this same test to his government regarding the lease (sale) of our electricity poles and wires infrastructure.
Recent polls show that 65 per cent of people surveyed disagree with the sale (lease) of this taxpayer-owned infrastructure (SMH, March 23).
I quote Mr Constance from the Bay Post article: “They don’t have to progress this; they can pull it at any time”, and “They could pull this now and they should”.
