After batting all of day one Batemans Bay scored 178 from 73.3 overs.
The Bay’s bowling on day two made its first breakthrough when Liam Macpherson dismissed opener Adam Darby (14) with Bomaderry’s score at 1/21.
The Bay was able to break partnerships at regular intervals to keep the pressure on Bomaderry.
Pat Griffin (2/40 from 11 overs) bowled first drop Adam Pritchett and Bishal Pachhai (2/24 from eight overs) took two quick wickets to have Bomaderry on 4/68.
Griffin struck again in his next over.
Harry Shannon took a catch behind the stumps to have the home side reeling at 5/71.
Opening bowler Josh Lee was given the ball for a second spell and it paid dividends when he bowled Matt Glyde (5) to have Bomaderry at 6/87.
A 35-run stand between Mark Graham (39 not out) and Ben Lynch (22) steadied the home side’s innings.
Liam Macpherson was brought back into the attack and nabbed his second wicket, with Lee taking the catch, and Bomaderry was 7/122.
Mackenzie Clack got his name on the wicket-takers’ list when he bowled Kealen Blattner and it put Bomaderry on the ropes at 8/132.
Don Kennedy (50 not out) came in at number 10 and took the game away from Batemans Bay.
He middled a number of shots – six fours and one six – and led his side past the total to gain first innings’ points.
When Kennedy reached his half-century the home side declared at 8/197.
The Bay had to play out the final 20 overs and its mission was to block out Bomaderry’s bowlers.
Mark Templeman (1), Macpherson (1), Jack Gallen (1), Lee (0) and Pachhai (2) were fatigued after fielding for 58 overs but they soaked up valuable overs before they were dismissed.
Harry Shannon (5 not out) and father Marty (1 not out) batted out the remaining overs to ensure Bomaderry couldn’t win outright.
At stumps Batemans Bay was 5/16 from 20 overs.
The Bay’s third grade side plays its final match of the season against second-placed Nowra at Hanging Rock over the next two weekends.
