The Bay scored 9/109 from 50 overs against Ulladulla United on February 21.
The home side took the ball at Hanging Rock and started well when Connor Art collected the ball at point and knocked the stumps over to remove Max Eggins (3).
After five overs Ulladulla was 1/14 and the visitor’s scoring was kept down by the Bay’s opening bowlers Liam Macpherson (0/30 from seven overs) and Luke Wiggins (0/30 from nine).
Ulladulla was able to progress to 57 when Matt Klarica held a catch off the bowling of Art, which dismissed Ulladulla’s opener Caleb Murray for 40.
The runs started to flow for Ulladulla and Bethany Neilsen (13 not out) and Kyle Jarrett (54 not out) retired.
Ulladulla was able to continue on without further loss before passing the Bay’s total of 109 in the 32nd over.
At stumps Ulladulla was all out for 179 from 45.3 overs.
Ryan Pitkin, Ben Heffernan and Art were the pick of the Bay bowlers.
Pitkin’s landed his off-spin on a tight line and length and finished with figures of 0/10 from six overs.
Heffernan finished with 3/10 from five overs and Art ended with 1/9 from five.
Batemans Bay’s under 16s’ coach Mick Macpherson said the team was enthusiastic in the field all day.
“Although they were unsuccessful, the team put in a great effort,” he said. “That brings this season to a close for the team, but after this year’s experience, there’s little doubt they will be a force to be reckoned with next season.”
