Disaster assistance provides affected communities and their councils with funding to help with the costs of clean-up and recovery operations and the repair of damaged essential public assets.
Eden-Monaro MP Peter Hendy welcomed the support.
“Our communities suffered significant damage in these storms just weeks before Christmas, and councils were left with substantial clean-up costs after the storm,” he said.
“This funding is just one of the ways the federal and state governments work together to assist NSW communities after a natural disaster.”
Member for Bega Andrew Constance said the financial assistance was greatly appreciated by those affected by the December floods.
“Our region has endured some of the worst flooding over recent years and this support will aide in the rebuilding and clean-up efforts of basic infrastructure,” he said.
“Assistance to primary producers, small businesses and not for profit groups are vital for maintaining the operation of essential services in regional areas.”
