So when will we benefit from the long-awaited spine road linking George Bass Drive to the Princes Highway, south of Batemans Bay?
When will traffic flow from Batehaven to the Princes Highway be improved, congestion in the CBD be eased and safety enhanced?
When will construction commence and when will those $10 million (compliments of NSW Treasurer Mr Constance) start circulating in our shire, providing desperately needed employment and lifting local business confidence?
Councillors, elected to represent the interests of residents, should be well informed about such an important matter.
Sadly, when I raised these questions with council’s management on February 17, the curtain of secrecy could not be penetrated.
Rather than encourage our community to be aware and enthusiastic about one, of the very few, significant improvements on the shire’s horizon, it seems we must all wait obediently for management to trickle out what it chooses to tell us, if and when management gets around to it.
I strongly oppose the special rates variation.
Past performance suggests additional revenues will not produce better results or improve communication from council’s management.
