Fondly referred to as “the voice of his people”, it could be said that through his long and distinguished career, Archie has sung of suffering, pain and injustice in a manner more effective than his contemporaries.
Archie will share both the joys and sadness of his life journey that inspired his latest critically acclaimed album Into The Bloodstream.
Each track is symbolic of the courage and triumph that is Archie Roach – a man who lost everything, then lost some more, yet has been bold enough to return to the artistic spotlight to share his story.
“Two years ago, I wasn’t really sure whether I would get to do another album,” Archie said.
“Physically, I wasn’t too well and that was to do with losing Ruby.
“But I really believe coming through that and coming through a stroke then cancer, that you have to let go of the pain and get on with life.
“Overcoming difficulties . . . singing more uplifting songs that are not so much about suffering and pain but rising above that . . . going through what I have has made me realise that a big part of people getting sick has to do with holding onto pain and not letting it go.”
The concert will commence at 6.30pm.
Tickets can be booked at www.fourwinds.com.au and cost $20 for kids under 16 and job-seekers, up to $55.
Barragga Bay is 10km south of Bermagui on the Tathra to Bermagui Road.
