The reincarnated Moruya Jazz Festival drew big acts, such as Thirsty Merc, and an even bigger crowd and brought the banks of the Moruya River banks to life in October.
Granite Town secretary Danielle Williams said the team was elated and humbled to accept the award at the Australia Day ceremony in Moruya.
“It was a real honour and we are really chuffed to receive the award,” she said.
“It is nice to be recognised for all the hard work put into the good community event.”
Ms Williams said it was an unexpected but welcome award.
“Having the acknowledgement from council and the community is invaluable to the event,” she said.
“This award will help us with grants.
“It makes us more excited for the 2015 event.”
Ms Williams said planning was well under way for this year’s Granite Town.
“We are working towards securing a line-up just as good as last year,” she said.
“We have a team of 33 people this year, which is up from six last year.
“That will make the workload so much easier.”
The 2015 event is set for October 30 and 31 and November 1; Early bird tickets are on sale until the end of January at www.granitetown.com.au.
