About one-hundred people gathered in Russ Martin Park to celebrate the day in style.
People came dressed in Australia Day attire to enjoy a family-friendly breakfast in the park.
The morning was complete with horse shoe throwing competitions, a light horse display, a cannon demonstration, a best-dressed dog competition, a flag raising ceremony and the announcement on Moruya's Citizen of the Year for 2015.
The 2015 Moruya Citizen of the Year is 2EAR FM radio announcer Kathy Sheilds.
Moruya Rotary president Keith Armstrong described Kathy as a tireless and dedicated volunteer.
"Her service as a presenter has contributed greatly to the community," he said.
"Nothing is ever too much trouble for Kathy and she is always willing to help out wherever she can."
Mrs Sheilds has served as secretary of the Moruya Red Cross since 2007 and has been a valuable supporter of the Far South Coast Lantern Club, whose work supports blind and deaf children.
She is also a committee member of the Moruya Antique Machinery and Tractor Club.
Mrs Sheilds said it was humbling to receive the award.
"You do things because you love to do them," she said.
"To be recognised for that is a bonus.
"It is a great community and i'm happy to be a part of it."
Mrs Sheilds thanked the Moruya Lions and Rotary clubs for having faith in what she does.
