The funds are a welcome boost for the May event, coming off the back of being awarded a prestigious Silver Award at this year’s South Coast Tourism Awards in the Festival and Events category.
EROA chairwoman Sue Barford said the volunteer committee was very excited about securing the timely funds.
“The South Coast Tourism Award itself was unexpected, but receiving this funding so soon afterwards is strong acknowledgement that EROA is obviously getting some things right, and we are keen to build on that momentum,” she said.
“This funding gives us the opportunity to create quality publicity material that will encourage visitors to our event, and therefore the local area.
“We are keen, through our arts program, to promote local businesses and showcase the Eurobodalla to the rest of Australia.”
Coming into its 10th year, the EROA is an anticipated annual event in the calendars of art lovers from Melbourne to Sydney and beyond.
The 2015 program is set to be the biggest EROA event yet, with Ms Barford confirming that the committee was in the process of securing some top talent.
“Although I can’t reveal too much at this stage, I can confirm that critically acclaimed author Kate Forsythe will be a guest speaking on writing at EROA, as part of National Library Week, which falls within the timeframe of our festival each year,” she said.
“Returning visitors can rest assured that EROA favourites, such as the Wearable Art Fashion Show, popular Open Studio Program and SoArt Art Prize will be back, along with innovative new ideas and events.
“We are keen to create an artistic journey experience that covers the entire Shire, from Durras Lake right down to Wallaga Lake, and the Committee is currently working hard to make that happen.”
EROA is a 10-day festival focused on presenting and promoting a dynamic suite of local and visiting artists across all art forms including but not limited to live music; theatre; film; textiles/wearable art; visual arts; crafts; literature; performance poetry/story telling and other community celebrations.
