Mrs Lovell is retiring and plans to become more involved in the community and spend time with friends and family.
She said the highlights in her time at the college were the people she met and the growth of the pastoral care section.
“The school is a vibrant, wonderful learning community and it has been a privilege to be principal here,” she said.
“I have seen great success out of students, not just academically but they are people of integrity and courage.”
One of the achievements of Mrs Lovell’s time was strengthening the number of enrolments.
“Over the past five years we have had five classes go into year 7,” she said.
“We haven’t expanded the classroom space but we are packed fairly full now.”
Mrs Lovell saw the construction of the school hall two years ago and developed the school’s information computer technologies (ICT) beyond its infancy stages.
“Our whole learning and teaching has been changed,” Mrs Lovell said.
“ICT has been integrated into the way we do things now.
“We have had the introduction of an iPad program into year 7 and that will extend to year 8 next year.”
Although each school Mrs Lovell has worked in has something unique about it she said Carroll College held a special place in her heart.
“It’s the longest I have been anywhere,” she said.
“It has a beautiful setting as well.”
Mrs Lovell said the school was only going to go from strength to strength in the future.
“We are well established in the local community,” she said
Mrs Lovell’s last day was on Thursday.
“I am going to miss the people here,” she said.
In her retirement she plans to spend more time with friends and family.
“I am going to do a little bit of teaching at a university in Canberra but I’m not making too many plans,” she said.
“Family and friends are a priority. I will also do a little but of travel next year.”
Steve Bath, current assistant principal, will step into the role next year.
