Better Bodies Fitness took out the major prize, $600 worth of advertising donated by the Bay Post/Moruya Examiner, for its unique exercising Santa display.
The display featured Santa perched on an exercise bike next to a Christmas tree made out of barbell weights.
Better Bodies owner Claudie Bradley came up with the idea in bed one night.
She said the gym already had a wetsuit stuffed with newspaper for the body, but finding a head for Santa proved more difficult.
She approached Harris Scarfe staff, who dug up an old mannequin from the basement.
Ms Bradley said the display had attracted a lot of attention.
“People have been bringing their kids up to have a look,” she said.
“It’s actually brought people into the business.
“Thanks to the Chamber – it was great fun to get involved. We’re already trying to come up with something for next year.”
Highly commended by the judges was Sapphire Office Supplies for its beach-themed display, and Eurobodalla Meals on Wheels, whose window featured painted-on Christmas puddings wearing roller-skates.
Moruya Veterinary Clinic took out the people’s choice award with 45 votes for its animal-themed decorations, closely followed by Eurobodalla Meals on Wheels with 36.
Moruya Business Chamber president Steve Picton presented the vet team with their prize on Monday; a Weber-Q, bought by the Chamber.
Practice partner Anneliese Geard was excited by the news and put the win down to the power of social media, after they put the call out for votes on the Moruya Veterinary Hospital Facebook page.
“We have lots of staff barbecues so now we don’t have to go to someone’s house, which is great,” Ms Geard said.
Mr Picton said the competition this year had achieved its aim and there was a lot of friendly rivalry between the competition’s frontrunners.
“It’s brightened up the Main Street and helped bring business owners together,” he said.
“We’ll definitely be doing it again next year.”
