The man was next to Acheron Reef, between Maloneys Beach and Yellow Rock, in his 13-metre catamaran when a southerly blew up and forced the vessel to run aground on the reef.
Marine Rescue was called at 1am and sent a three-man crew aboard its double-hulled BR 20 vessel to the scene.
The crew towed the vessel, with the man on board, back to Batemans Bay Marina, where it currently sits awaiting repairs to its underside.
